Scanning

Does your structure scanner and app work with Windows or Android tablets?

Works only for iPhone and iPad Pro.

I want to use my own scanner. What file types do you accept?

We currently only accept foot scan data in .STL file format.

For the foot scanning, is it weight bearing or non-weight bearing?

Scanning the foot directly is non-weight bearing. It's also possible to scan a foot impression foam box (semi-weight bearing).

Is it possible to scan the foot in a corrected position?

When scanning, the foot is resting on a stand just outside the opening on the scanner and it's possible for a practitioner to use their hands to manipulate the foot into a corrected position. On the other hand, one can cast the foot in a corrected position in the conventional way and then present the casting to the foot scanner for scanning. It's also possible to scan a foot impression foam box.

What is your warranty/return policy on the scanner/printer?

The warranty for both the OLT FootScan and 3D printer is one year. Additional coverage for both the foot scanner and the 3D printer can be purchased on a yearly-basis.

What is the average lead time for an order?

The average lead time for an orthotic order is 2-3 business days and 3-5 business days for sandals.

Orthotics &

Sandals

Is the design customizable or is it a standard shape matched to the scanned profile?

The shape of 3D foot orthotics is formed based on the input of a 3D foot scan and an orthotic prescription filled in by a practitioner. Any change in the 3D foot scan and/or the orthotic prescription will lead to different foot orthotics being 3D printed.

What kind of the material is used for 3D printed orthotics? Is it rigid or flexible?

Two options to choose -- S90/95 (semi-flex) and F40/R20 (semi-rigid). S90/95 is a EVA-like material, which is both durable and semi-flexible. On the other hand, F40/R20 is a simulated polypropylene material, which is rigid.  R20 comes with carbon/glass fibre inside to make it very rigid.  More materials are under testing.

What customization options are available for the orthotic insoles and orthotic sandals?
What top covers are available?

We have various top cover materials to choose from.

What materials are used in the sandal uppers?

Genuine leather.

What is the thickness of a 3D printed foot orthotic?

The shell is about 3mm.

Printing

How long does it take to print a pair of orthotics?

For the highest quality it takes about 2-3 hours to print a single orthotic shell by using a desktop 3D printer. The 3D printer works in an unattended mode after the setup. Some practitioners use two 3D printers to speed up the process or to print overnight. Our 3D

printer can print up to max. 4 orthotic shells (2 pairs) at one setup. !!!Add s90 info!!!

Is the 3D printer very noisy?

The average operational noise level is 51dB. To compare, the noise level of sitting in front of a desktop computer in your home is about 30-50 dB and an electric toothbrush can generate 50-60 dB noise.

Can I print different types of foot orthotics for the same patient?

Yes. In this case, please just change the orthotic prescription accordingly.

Is the system portable? i.e. to different clinics, or does it need to be set up in one clinic?

Yes, the OLT FootScan and the 3D printer can be relocated to other clinics if needed.

What extra instruments/tools are needed in order to 3D print custom foot orthotics in my clinic?

A dehumidifier, a filament dryer, a desktop band saw, a desktop grinder and a special glue for the top covers are recommended.

Can I use my own 3D printer?

We don't recommend using other printers. Our 3D printer is custom-made.

What are the specs of the 3D Printer that you offer?
